BiographyHistory

Clair White's medical studies in Russia were interrupted by her escape from that country in 1919. She spent time in Constantinople, Palestine, Geneva, Vienna, Paris and London before emigrating to Australia. White conducted a modelling school for some time and, later, ran a fine-needlework and leathercraft shop in Melbourne, where she sold her own handiwork. She was an office bearer of the Henry Lawson Memorial and Literary Society, Melbourne, until she died. White's work was published in the Anthology of Australian Verse, published by the Orange Banjo Paterson Festival Committee in 1961.
