BiographyHistory

Ille Uscinski began writing poetry at the age of sixteen. She came to Australia in 1948 as a refugee in the displaced persons category. Determined to master English, she obtained her B.A. degree at the University of Queensland in 1975. As well as poetry, she writes short stories and plays, and collections of her work have been accepted to be considered for performances in Western Australia and the United States of America. She is a former co-editor of the Ethnic Brisbane Newspaper and Literary Officer of the Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland. She has participated in many readings around Brisbane.
