Damian Morgan was the seventh of nine children and graduated from the University of Tasmania with a B.A. (Hons) and Diploma of Education in 1976. He began teaching in Tasmania's northwest coastal area and in 1979 with his family, moved to Singapore teaching English to students in government schools and running the school library.
On his return to Tasmania in 1982, he resumed his teaching career in Launceston and graduated with a Master of Education degree in 1986. Damian and his family then moved to Brunei where he was head of department and taught English to students in the Sultan Mohamed Jamalil Alam government secondary school for almost seven years. Travelling extensively in Europe and Asia, he later used these experiences to write novels for Macmillan's Hornbill series for South-East Asian children, English language textbooks and a guidebook to Brunei.
Damian returned to Tasmania in 1993 and has become a full-time writer
