BiographyHistory

Robert Kimber was educated at Adelaide University before undertaking further drama studies in the United Kingdom and the USA, doing a PhD thesis on Performance Space as Sacred Space in Aranda Corroboree (University of Colorado, 1988). He has been principal lecturer at Theatre Nepean, lecturer in Drama at the University of Adelaide, and artistic director and playwright. He has published works on drama including Communication through Drama (2 vols, 1973, 1976). He has had several plays performed, some of which have been award winners. Since his retirement he has undertaken Spanish studies and some translation of poetry. He has had articles on Bertolt Brecht published through the university of Barcelona.

  • With Celeste Walters he wrote several one-act plays on social themes for secondary schools: 'Power Plays' (1991). Some of the plays have been performed but the work was never published and remains in the authors' possession.
