BiographyHistory

As a result of childhood mumps David Molloy became progressively deaf from the age of eighteen months and experienced profound hearing loss in both ears. A Marist priest, he spent two years in the early 1990s on pastoral placement with a professional Deaf Ministry team at the John Pierce Centre in Melbourne. It was while he was here that he wrote many of the poems in In a Glass Teardrop. In 1993, Molloy returned to New Zealand and worked at the Catholic Deaf Centre in Palmerston North.
