BiographyHistory

David Stratton is an internationally recognised film critic. He has worked for Variety and The Australian. He began working for SBS Television in 1980 as their film consultant and introducing the SBS Cinema Classic and Movie of the Week. Since 1986 Stratton has co-hosted the long-running review program The Movie Show with Margaret Pomeranz first on SBS until 2004 before moving to the ABC in 2005 with the renamed At The Movies.
Stratton has served on juries at international film festivals, including Cannes twice, and on 22 March 2001 he was appointed with the Croix de Commandeur of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Literature), the highest rank for this award, for his services to cinema, in particular French cinema.
He was awarded the 60th Anniversary Medal by the Festival du Film de Cannes and The Chauvel Award by the Brisbane International Film Festival both in 2007.
