Poet Peter Lloyd has had work published in Australia, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and France. Emigrating to Australia from the English Midlands in the late 1970s in search of a better climate, he has been involved in providing housing for the underprivileged.
He draws his poetic inspiration from his earlier experiences in England, 'the slums, the ugliness and dirt. From what I sometimes see in the faces of the homeless and immigrants, the body-language of dossers, grassers, old men, old women. At the same time, all the colour of streets. The courage of the unemployed. Then there's the stockmarket with its fear/greed/drive. And music, of course, which always opens a door into some other dimension. And religion...with all its morality and immorality.' (Interview with Ben Taylor, Rebecca Oakey and Brad Cameron, Heart of the Matter (2004), p. 133)
