BiographyHistory

Frances Bonner is an Australian academic. Her research and teaching interests are in the areas of television studies, magazines, celebrities, science fiction, and feminist approaches to popular media.

Bonner is the author of Ordinary Television (2003); Fame Games: The Production of Celebrity in Australia (2000), with Graeme Turner and David Marshall; and editor of Imagining Women: Cultural Representations and Gender (1992). She has written book chapters on lifestyle television, Australian magazines, and celebrity, and is the author of numerous articles on television, magazines, science fiction and film.

The Australian representative for the Association for Research in Popular Fiction (UK), Bonner was an Associate Professor at the The University of Queensland's School of English, Media Studies and Art History.
