BiographyHistory

Marisa Cano has worked as a journalist, translator and community writer. She has been the editor of many anthologies of poetry and prose by writers from non-English speaking backgrounds, many of them residents of the western suburbs of Sydney. Cano 'is proud to be a "stepping stone" for writers of non-English speaking background to achieve their goals.' (From Mother: An Anthology of Poetry and Prose, p. 93.)

Cano was a regular contributor during the 1990s to multicultural periodicals such as Nosotras, a Spanish language magazine, and Ambitious Friends, a multicultural, multilingual magazine in which many of Cano's short fiction pieces in English appear.
