Lino Concas graduated in Philosophy and, in Australia, has taught Italian at St Joseph's College in Altona, Victoria. He has received several national and international awards for his poetry, including the 1966 honorary award from the European Centre of Culture for the poem Il Vento, the 1968 gold medal in the national Il Giglio literary competition, Florence, for the poem La Mia Terra. In 1980 and 1982, he received the Taormina international poetry award for the volumes Ballata di Vento and Uomo a Meta` respectively. In 1984 he was awarded the international La Montagna prize in Camerino, Italy. His work has been read over Radio 3EA between 1980 and 1986 and on ABC Radio in 1984 and 1985. He has read at the Footscray Library and the St Kilda Library in 1986 and at the Italian Institute of Culture between 1982 and 1986.
