1 1 y separately published work icon Margaret Guilfoyle Anne Henderson , Redland Bay : Connor Court Publishing , 2023 27019105 2023 single work biography

'This is the first biography of Dame Margaret Guilfoyle, Liberal Senator from Victoria from 1971 to 1987, who quickly rose to become Minister for Social Security and then Minister for Finance in the Fraser Coalition Government. Margaret Guilfoyle had the distinction of being the first woman to hold a cabinet-level ministerial portfolio in Australia. She was regarded as an outstanding minister – highly competent, reformist, and trustworthy. That she served as a senior minister for the duration of the Fraser Government testifies to this. In addition, Margaret Guilfoyle did much to increase women’s participation and representation in Australian politics through her own outstanding example, and active roles in various forums across the political divide.

'Anne Henderson is deputy director of the Sydney Institute and has been a major contributor to promoting the study of Australian politics through her many publications. Among her books of note are Enid Lyons: Leading Lady To A Nation; Joseph Lyons – The People’s Prime Minister; Menzies at War (short listed for the 2015 Prime Minister’s Award for Australian History); and Federation’s Man of Letters – Patrick McMahon Glynn.' (Publication summary)

— Appears in: Quadrant , September vol. 58 no. 9 2014; (p. 74-77)
'On January 24, 1941, Australia's Prime Minister Robert Menzies began a journey on a Qantas Empire Flying Boat that took him to engagements in some forty-six towns and cities through some twenty-one countries across the globe. It was an extraordinary trip-made against the backdrop of a second global war, which Australians had, regretfully, joined in September 1939.' (Publication abstract)
1 3 y separately published work icon Menzies at War Anne Henderson , Sydney : NewSouth Publishing , 2014 7160948 2014 single work biography

'In the months following his resignation as PM in late August 1941, Menzies swayed between relief at his release from the burdens of office as PM and despair that his life at the top had come to so little.

'Many followers of Australian political history, including Liberal party supporters, forget that Robert Menzies had many years in the political wilderness not knowing he would end up being Australia’s longest-serving prime minister. This book focuses on the period between 1941, when Menzies lost the prime-ministership, to 1949, when he regained it. In the interim he travelled around the world, spending an extended time in Britain during World War II, set up the Liberal Party and, the author argues, developed the leadership qualities that made him so successful. Anne Henderson refers to this time as his real political blooding.' (Publication summary)

1 9 y separately published work icon Joseph Lyons : The People's Prime Minister Anne Henderson , Sydney : NewSouth Publishing , 2011 Z1818812 2011 single work biography 'This landmark book re-establishes Lyons as one of Australia's most capable and popular leaders and reminds us of why he was the first Australian prime minister to win and survive three consecutive elections.

'A Tasmanian Labor premier in the 1920s, Lyons entered federal politics in 1929 to become a significant figure in the Scullin Labor Cabinet. When Labor split in 1931, Lyons left the party to join the Nationalists and subsequently form the United Australia Party. He was the first Australian political leader to use radio, press photography and newsreels to connect with voters. Joe Lyons led Australia through the financial crisis of the 1930s up to the eve of World War II. He died in office on 7 April 1939.'

'This is the story of an extraordinary woman - mother of twelve, Prime Minister's wife, first woman member of the House of Representatives and the first woman in a Federal Cabinet, radio broadcaster, newspaper columnist, author of three books - Enid Lyons was for many years the best known woman in Australia. Anne Henderson takes us on an intriguing tour of the first half of 20th century Australia - a time when politics was more fluid yet with many of the problems we face today - political party dysfunction, the widening gap between rich and poor, rural and urban, economic recession and the role of women in public life. In researching Enid Lyons' family background, Anne Henderson uncovers new and intriguing information about a 'family secret'.'
