Stephen Cook (B.A., Dip.Ed.) visited India several time then settled down to teach for the Victorian Education Department. He created the cartoon series 'Porous Pasternak' for Farrago and the Canberra Times.
One of the youngest and most promising Australian science fiction writers, Stephen Cook, while in his middle twenties, already had a reputation for writing individual and eccentric stories, erotically charged and enriched by a brilliant deployment of colour imagery. Their disturbing character indicated the seed of a major talent, cut short by his death, aged 25. (John Baxter, ed. The First Pcific Book of Australian Science Fiction, p. 65)
