BiographyHistory

Danish-born Summy lived in Boston and Houston in the U.S.A. before coming to Australia. She worked in various jobs, including as a psychiatric nurse, correspondence school supervisor and manager of a book store. Her poetry, short stories and articles appeared in newspapers and Women's Weekly as well as in literary journals, with some of her short stories being broadcast on the A.B.C. Only one of her nine plays was published. She was awarded the Danish Edith Rode Honorary Literacy Legacy and was first published in English in 1963. She was said to have written a novel but this has not been traced.
