BiographyHistory

Rod Gibson grew up in Sydney, completing his schooling at Saint Aloysius' College, Milsons Point. After abandoning an arts degree at the University of New South Wales, Gibson moved to Byron Bay. Here he wrote 'poetry, plays, short stories, novels and film scripts. Sixteen of his plays were produced in the region'. Gibson acknowledged that his battle with schizophrenia contributed to his output.

Gibson's funeral, following his death from cancer, was held at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Maclean, New South Wales, on 18 July 2011.
