New Zealand-born Jonathan Hardy was an actor, screenwriter and director who appeared in films and on television. Before settling in Australia, Hardy lived in England, where he was affiliated with many theatres. In Australia, he was a member of the Melbourne Theatre Company, the Nimrod Theatre Company and the Mercury Theatre Company.
In addition to his work in the dramatic arena, Hardy wrote poetry, performed as a singer and puppeteer, and directed a performance of Die Fledermaus for the New Zealand Opera.
Hardy co-wrote the screenplay for Breaker Morant, which was nominated for an Academy Award.
