Kenneth Gifford, an old boy of Scotch College, Melbourne, is the author of several works of poetry and a book of criticism. In a distinguished legal career, Gifford published widely on law and local government, was appointed a Queen's Counsel, a Freeman of the City of London and lectured internationally.
A leading member of the Australian Monarchist League, Gifford was a delegate to the Constitutional Convention in 1998. As a philanthropist he was honoured by his old school by having the clock tower, part of the Language and Culture Centre, named the Gifford Tower.
