A clerk with the Crystal Palace Company, Robson was found guilty of forgery at London's Central Criminal Court on 3 November 1856, sentenced to a 20 year term and transported to the Swan River penal colony in Western Australia.
Newspaper reports suggest that Robson had been known in the theatrical world as a writer of drama.
