BiographyHistory

Judge, author, playwright and community worker, Justice Ian Callinan, AC, was educated at Brisbane Grammar School and The University of Queensland. Callinan was admitted to the Queensland Bar in 1965 and, prior to this, was one of Brisbane's most prominent barristers. In 1997 Callinan was appointed to the High Court of Australia. He has served on many boards, including the Queensland Art Gallery and the Queensland TAB, and has been chairman of the Australian Defence Force Academy.

In 2010, Justice Ian Callinan was awarded a Doctors of Laws honoris causa by The University of Queensland.
