Katherine Samuelowicz spent her childhood in Poland before her arrival in Brisbane. She has an MA degree (Arabic Language & Islamic Studies), Diploma of Education and a Diploma of Library Science. Samuelowicz completed a PhD thesis on 'Academics' Educational Beliefs and Teaching Practices' at Griffith University in 1999. More recently she has been a partner in Academic Directions (an Academic Writing and Research Consultancy). Her haiku and other poems have been published in Australia, Japan, New Zealand and Canada. Katherine Samuelowicz is a member of the 'paper wasp' haiku group based in Brisbane.
