Before entering parliament in 1977, Barry Jones had a varied career ranging from high school teacher to Australian Quiz Champion (1960-1968) to pioneering the first Australian two-way public affairs radio program. During his parliamentary career Jones was Minister for Science (1983-1990). He was National President of the Australian Labor Party from 1992-2000. Jones has a long held interest in the interface between technological change, culture, science and education. This interest has been the focus of many of his monograph publications.
