BiographyHistory

Kateryna Longley grew up during the 1950s as a "New Australian" in Brighton, an Adelaide suburb. After becoming a science and mathematics teacher she completed a doctorate in literature at Melbourne University. Longley is a Professor of Literature at Murdoch University and the University's first Pro Vice-Chancellor for Regional Development. Her contribution to higher education was recognised in the 2001 WA Telstra Business Women's Awards. Longley is particularly interested in literature dealing with cultural dislocation.
