BiographyHistory

Actor Francis Nesbitt arrived in Sydney in 1842 and worked in various theatres in New South Wales, Tasmania and Victoria. He left Australia, in late 1849, for approximately two years. Nesbitt died in Geelong during a theatre production in which he was performing.

Edward Geoghegan's (q.v.) Ravenswood: A Tragic Drama in Three Acts was initially attributed to Nesbitt when it was first performed at the Royal Victoria Theatre, Sydney during a benefit in Nesbitt's honour.
