BiographyHistory

African American jazz poet L. E. Scott was born in Cordele, Georgia, USA. For over 20 years he lived and travelled in many parts of the world before choosing to base himself in New Zealand, where he lives for about six months of the year. Scott defines his work as jazz blues and he has experimented with sounds and cadences of the spoken word of the Black Church, which underpins the essence of his work. A number of his books have been published in the USA, Australia and New Zealand. (From author note in his book Bones, 2004)
