Although born in Australia, Oliphant has travelled extensively through Europe and Asia and has lived in many parts of the world. She has worked in theatre, both as an actor and backstage, and has performed as a cabaret artist. She completed her first book while backpacking through the Middle East. Oliphant has been living in Melbourne.
