BiographyHistory

Alexander G. Steven came to Australia as an infant. He was the sixth child in a family of eight and the only son. He was educated at Cumloden near Melbourne and by private tuition, matriculating at sixteen. Following in his father's footsteps he began studying medicine giving up when his health failed. He travelled to Europe in 1912 returning home three years later via Canada and the United States. Rejected for service in World War I due to his ongoing illness he died at the age of thirty-seven. He is the brother of Hilda A. Steven (q.v.).
