A New Zealand scholar, Rollo D. Arnold wrote extensively on late nineteenth-century New Zealand, with a particular emphasis on immigration, the development of New Zealand society, and the construction of a compulsory education system. In addition to his Ph.D., he holds an MA Dip. Ed. (from the University of New Zealand) and an MA (from the University of Melbourne). In 2001, he was Professor Emeritus ar the Victoria University of Wellington.
