BiographyHistory

Ricardo Bonel Valdes began writing poetry at an early age, some of which was published in newspapers in La Paz, Bolivia. He later received a scholarship to study linguistics and Russian literature in the Soviet Union. In 1974, three of Valdes's poems were published in an anthology, Panorama of Bolivian Poetry, published by another Bolivian writer, Ramiro Beltran.

In a dedication to poetry, Valdes wrote: "Only you have stayed with me throughout."
