BiographyHistory

Robert Clark came to Australia as a boy. He was one of the regular readers in the early days of Adelaide's Friendly Street Poets.

'A philosophical poet who favoured metre and rhyme but not slavishly so, he often drew his inspiration from observations of nature and South Australian landscapes. Many of his poems reflect his interest in Eastern religions and the "oneness of all" '.(Mike Ladd, obituary in Southern Write, July 7, 2004)

  • Clark co-edited Verse in Australia 1958-61 and Friendly Street Poetry Reader no.8 (1984). He also selected the poems and wrote an introduction for A Window at Night by Max Harris, q.v. He also wrote an introduction to Poems by James Dickey (q.v.)
