BiographyHistory

Francis Jackson was a schoolmaster for twenty years, teaching English and French literatures. An avid reader, scholar and writer himself, he became an advocate for greater emphasis on the humanities in public school education. Jackson was also the director of Shakespeare Head Press and for a time was president of John o'London's Literary Circle in Sydney. He wrote many critical texts on English and Australian literature, edited Shakespeare plays, and translated French texts into English.
