Adelaide was the daughter of Alexander Primrose and his wife Alice (Small). She married L. J. F. Gatzemeyer, quarantine doctor, who lived at Norwood SA for many years. She conducted columns in the South Australian Chronicle and the Saturday Express, and was well-known both as a verse- and song-writer, and as an artist. Adelaide Primrose also contributed short fiction and some children's fiction to Adelaide newspapers.
