Brisbane-based writer Rob Morris studied Creative Writing at Griffith University in the late 1970s. His honours year was supervised by Andrew Field (q.v.) and his honours thesis resulted in his short novel, Holes in the Traffic.
In his introduction to Morris's poetry collection, Still Kicking, Field pays tribute to Morris's Brisbane-voice and describes his writing as having 'a cadence and tone that has not been caught in the city before. It is Rob's voice, not Helen Garner's, not Salinger's, just in that range, and writing in and about Brisbane, Australia's secret city.'
In 1996, Morris was teaching and writing in Camp Hill, Queensland.
