BiographyHistory

Filippo Sacchi, a graduate of the University of Padua, travelled in Europe and Australasia as a special correspondent for the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera. He came to Australia in 1925, but on returning to Italy in 1926, was excluded from journalism by the fascist regime.

His novel about Italian immigrants to Queensland, La Casa in Oceania (1932) was the first novel written about Australia by an Italian.
