Ted Ottley is a Canadian-born Australian who has lived on the Gold Coast. The date of his arrival in Australia is unknown. After graduating in Communications Arts, Ottley began his career as an English teacher in London. He became a copywriter with a London advertising agency, before returning to Canada to continue his writing career in advertising, theatre and broadcasting. He has written music, lyrics, scripts and scores for television and film productions in Canada and Australia. As a journalist, he has written articles and features for newspapers including the Australian and the Sydney Morning Herald, and also for Harper's Bazaar.
