Jan Wozitzky came to Australia in 1956 with his Czech father and Scots mother. In 1971 he was a founder of the Bushwackers Band, playing the tea-chest bass.
In 1988, he scripted the television documentary, Buwarrala Akarriya - Journey East for the ABC made with Yanyuwa, Garrwa and Mara people at Borroloola in the Northern Territory. The program won two Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM) Awards for Best Documentary and Best Australian Production.
This was followed by Aeroplane Dance for SBS which won several Australian and international awards.
Wozitzky also performs in solo and ensemble shows, at schools, festivals and theatres, including 'Whitefella Learns to Dance' (1990) and 'Buckley: The Go-between' (2007).
