BiographyHistory

Arthur Gask practiced as a dental surgeon for more than forty years in England and Australia, writing over thirty crime and mystery thrillers. His first thriller The Secret of the Sandhills (1921) was based on an incident which occurred on the dunes near an Adelaide beach.

Several of Gask's novels are set in South Australia, where he settled in 1920, and involve the detective Larose. His crime thrillers include The Red Paste Murders (1923), The Shadow of Larose (1930) and The Hangman's Knot (1936).
