BiographyHistory

Sophie Gee grew up and was educated in Paddington, Sydney. She graduated from The University of Sydney in 1995 with a first-class honours degree in English and began a law degree at that same institution. With her second degree incomplete Gee won a scholarship to Harvard University, USA, where her studies focused on life in 18th-century London. She received a PhD from Harvard in 2002. Gee was subsequently appointed assistant professor in English at Princeton University. She has also held a fellowhip at UCLA, USA, and has taught at University College, London.
