Euthymios Kondos was born in North Epirus, Greece. When he completed his secondary studies in 1930 his family migrated to Egypt and settled in Alexandria, where he trained as a mechanic from 1930-33, continuing for another two years at an evening technical school in Athens. Eventually he opened his own business in Alexandria. In 1954 he moved to Laodicia, Syria and worked as a supervisor for the Rodolf Saade Industry but returned to Alexandria from where he emigrated to Australia. He worked for General Motors Holden in Melbourne from 1959 until his retirement in 1977.
From 1959 Kondos wrote articles on community subjects which were published in the Melbourne newspapers Phos, Pyrsos and Nea Patrida. In 1970 his first poetry was published in I Sphinga, a monthly newspaper of the League of Greeks from Egypt and the Middle East. He often contributed poems, short stories, articles and critiques to this publication as well as a column 'Free Thought' from 1971-78. He became an Honorary Member of the League in 1977.
He has contributed occasionally to the newspaper I Yefyra and the Canadian magazine Ta Ellinika Nea. An adaptation of his short story From the Diary of an Immigrant was included in the Primary School Year 5 textbook (number 2) which was published in 1981 by the Education Division of the Greek Diplomatic Service in Australia. He has served as a member of the Adult Education Council and the Crafts Council of Victoria. As well as writing, he has worked with metal sculpture and has exhibited his works in individual and group exhibitions in Melbourne.
