Award-winning freelance writer and documentary-maker Siobhan McHugh was born in Dublin in 1957 and migrated to Australia in 1985. Her work ranges across social history, science and environment, the arts and society, with many years' experience in radio and TV, and as a teacher, public speaker and oral history consultant. Her creative output includes non-fiction books, memoir and children's fiction. Her first book, The Snowy: The People Behind the Power, won the New South Wales Premier's History Awards, and her radio programs have been shortlisted for the United Nations Media Peace Awards, the Walkley Awards, the Eureka Science Awards and the Women and Media Awards.
