Born in Paris, France, Henry Rosenbloom migrated with his family to Australia in 1952. (His parents, originally from Lodz, Poland, were survivors of the Holocaust.) Rosenbloom was educated at Northcote High School and then gained a BA with honours in English and history from the University of Melbourne. During the early 1970s he worked as a freelance editor and as a press secretary to Australian Labor Party federal politician Moss Cass.
In 1976 Rosenbloom founded the small, independent publisher, Scribe (q.v.) and published his own book, Politics and Media. During the remainder of the 1970s and the 1980s Rosenbloom worked in his father's printing business, Globe Press. With Scribe in abeyance during these years, Rosenbloom revived his small publishing house in 1997.
