BiographyHistory

Alan Farrelly began his newspaper career with the Newcastle Herald in 1957. He later became editor and editor-in-chief of a range of Australian and international newspapers including the Sunday Telegraph (Sydney), the Australian, the South China Morning Post and the Sunday Herald (Melbourne). Farrelly saw the potential of digital technology for newspapers and was quick to take up digital platforms.

Farrelly, who developed leukaemia, retired to Jindabyne in late 2007.
