BiographyHistory

Western Australian historian.

Born in Perth, Bolton was educated at Wesley College and the University of Western Australia, where he completed an honours dissertation on Alexander Forrest, explorer and surveyor of Western Australia.

Bolton studied at Oxford University in the 1950s, before returning to Australia in 1957.

Among his many roles, he served as Chancellor of Murdoch University between 2002 and 2006.
