Jennie Herrera was born in Toowoomba and later moved to Hobart. She has written fiction, non-fiction, romance, and crime. Many of her poems have been published and she won the 2001 Gwen Harwood Memorial Poetry Prize (for the poem 'Old Car Bodies'), and a second prize in the King Island Poetry Competition in 2003.
