BiographyHistory

W. E. Hammond arrived in Wellington, New Zealand, from Australia in June 1893 to take up the editorship of the newspaper Fair Play. He resigned in April 1894 when the decision was made to change the publication of the newspaper from weekly to monthly. Hammond went on to work with the New Zealand Times and as a journalist in Auckland before leaving New Zealand in 1900.
