Judith Beveridge was born in London, England in 1956 and migrated with her family to Australia in 1960, attending school in the western suburbs of Sydney. She studied communications at the University of Technology, Sydney, and has worked at part-time jobs as a research officer, library assistant, teacher and in the field of bush regeneration, in order to allow herself time to write.
Beveridge has received fellowships from the Australia Council to assist in her poetry writing and her work has appeared in numerous journals and anthologies. She is an experienced speaker and contributor at writers' festivals and has been a member of literary judging panels.
In 2000 Beveridge held the position of poetry advisor for Kalimat, a journal promoting Australian and Arabic literature. She has been a member of the Literature Board of the Australia Council.
She has been the poetry editor for the literary journal Meanjin and taught poetry writing at the University of Sydney.
