BiographyHistory

Mary Finnin was educated in Geelong and at Melbourne University. She worked for a time as art mistress at Geelong Grammar School and was also employed variously as an industrial relations officer, a theatre producer and by the Red Cross. Miller and Macartney describe her poetry as consisting of 'an even lyricism more often resolved into comment than image...' Finnin frequently published poems in the Bulletin and most of her output was in the 1930s-1950s.
