Cyril E. Goode was a pioneering farmer in the outer wheatbelt area of Western Australia before travelling to Victoria in 1932. He returned to Western Australia as a freelance journalist and travelled around the goldfields. He worked as a miner in Wiluna and, during World War II, in a munition factory in Victoria. Much of his extensive collection of Australian poetry is now housed in the Baillieu Library, University of Melbourne. Apart from his works of poetry and fiction, Goode also wrote
The War America Lost (1968) and
Account of a Dash to Ayers Rock (1972). His wife,
Jessie Goode, was the author of two children's books.
