BiographyHistory

William Leonard Marshall was educated at Fort Street High school and the Australian National University in Canberra. Before attending university, he worked as a journalist for a year, and has also been a teacher and proof-reader as well as writing radio and stage plays and contributing to literary journals including Cornhill. He also won a Commonwealth Literary Fund Grant. He lived for many years overseas, including in Hong Kong, Switzerland, Wales, Ireland and New York before returning to Australia in 1983. His novels have been published in Great Britain and the United States.
