BiographyHistory

Joanne Tompkins has been Professor of Drama and Head of School in the School of English, Media Studies and Art History (now Communication and Arts) at The University of Queensland. Until 2019, she is seconded to the Australian Research Council as Executive Director of the Humanities and Creative Arts panel.

Holding an MA from the University of Waterloo and a Ph.D. from York University (Toronto), Professor Tompkins researches in the fields of 3D visualisation and modelling of theatre spaces, space in Australian and Canadian theatre, intercultural performance, and multicultural theories and drama.
