BiographyHistory

'Hugh Halcro' (Katherine Wardlaw) was born at Swansea, Wales, and came to Australia with her family as a young woman in the early 1880s. She married Queensland Customs officer Walter Ralph Wardlaw at Cairns in 1887, and subsequently lived at Dunganess and Townsville. Later in life she and her husband moved to Sydney. Their son, Dr. H.S. Halcro Wardlaw, was a noted University of Sydney physiologist.
