BiographyHistory

Nicolae Sirius was born in Slobozia, Romania, in the early 1950s. He has published in Romanian and English and had his work performed in English. In 1991 he received a grant for translation from Multicultural Arts, Victoria. He read in 1989 at the Spoleto and Piccolo Spoleto Festivals in Mebourne and in 1990 at the Melbourne Fringe Festival. In 1989 he read his poetry on SBS TV, Sydney, with other writers and poets, including Rosa Cappiello, Mudrooroo Narogin and Ania Walwicz (qq.v.). His play 'The Last Dictator' was performed at La Mama Theatre, Melbourne, in 1990. After leaving Australia, Sirius lived in Germany and Austria, before moving to Japan in 1997.
